Dharma Satria Utomo
Welcome to my journey in Innovation and Entrepreneurship!I'm Dharma Satria Utomo, a passionate explorer of technology, product development, and entrepreneurship. My career is a mixed of lessons learned from few successes and lots of failures, each one a stepping stone toward growth.Early ExperiencesMy entrepreneurial journey started in college when my friends and I run an ice cream franchise business. Despite its failure, it was a fun learning experience, teaching me invaluable lessons about small business dynamics.During the same period, I tried out stock market investing, which coincided with the 2008 economic crisis. Although initially full of speculation, this experience introduced me to the principles of value investing, shaping my financial principles.Professional GrowthPost-graduation, I got into the banking sector. My roles ranged from management trainee to treasury sales, helping me to learn about the financial ecosystem and customer relationships. But the drive to create business was still in me. I began exploring the startup world, participating in the Jakarta Founder Institute, and improving my digital skills at Baba Studio.Startup VenturesMy startup journey took a significant turn at Veritrans (later Midtrans), an early-stage startup that grew into one of Indonesia's leading online payment gateway. Here, I learned about startup dynamics.Fueled by these experiences, I joined Ardent Labs, where my co-founders and I built Coral, a mobile marketplace app. Although Coral was later acqui-hired and faced competitive challenges, it was a crucial part of my entrepreneurial journey.Shifting our focus, we developed Prism, a chat management platform for e-commerce. Despite its initial success, strategic shifts led to its closure. However, one of our Hack Week projects, Selly, a custom keyboard app for online sellers, thrived, a testament to the power of addressing genuine market needs. After the acquisitions, Coral was acquired by Midtrans, and later Midtrans was acquired by Gojek, I joined Gojek (GoTo) as a Product Manager.Current FocusToday, as a Product Manager at KarmaClub, my journey continues. I am committed to being an infinite learner, always seeking to innovate and improve.Connect with MeFind me on Social Medias below or drop me an email at dharma.s.utomo[at]gmail[dot]com.
